AAAI 2017 Fall Symposium Series
A Standard Model of the Mind

Below is a nominal schedule from the proposal for illustrative purposes, not the final schedule.

Each session will last 90 minutes, and consist of an introduction to the topic by the session lead lasting about 10-15 minutes, followed by brief (about 5 minutes each) introductory statements by 3-4 panelists summarizing their position papers, leading to a panel discussion moderated by the session lead. Emphasis will be on structured, constructive interaction leading to a summary document of findings on each session’s topic, as captured by the session rapporteur.

11-12:30 Initial Draft of Standard Model

Introduction of an initial draft of standard model to frame working discussions

14-15:30 Structure and Processing

Working session refining structure and processing assumptions of standard model

16-17:30 Standard Model Framework

Summary of the day’s sessions and consensus on high-level framework

Day 2

9-10:30 Memory and Content

Working session refining memory and content assumptions of standard model

11-12:30 Learning

Working session refining learning assumptions of standard model

14-15:30 Perception and Motor

Working session refining perception and motor assumptions of standard model

16-17:30 Standard Model Components

Summary of the day’s sessions and consensus on memory, learning, and perception

Day 3

9-10:30 Standard Model Mapping

Mapping of a number of existing architectures onto the standard model

11-12:30 Final Discussion and Steps Forward

Wide-ranging discussion of current standard model and steps forward
